Staying at Regent Taipei: Tai Pan Executive Room Review, Spa & City Views

Regent Taipei review: A five-star stay in the heart of Taiwan’s capital

From Singapore’s Changi Airport, Taipei is barely five hours away—close enough for a weekend escape, yet far enough to feel like a proper adventure. With multiple daily flights connecting these two cities, planning a quick getaway for amazing food and a little shopping spree couldn’t be easier.

On my recent visit to Taiwan, I had the pleasure of experiencing Regent Taipei, a five-star luxury hotel that has truly become a destination in its own right.

Regent Taipei sits smack dab in Zhongshan district, which is basically the Orchard Road of Taipei. The hotel places you right in the middle of boutique shopping and a vibrant dining scene by day. Come evening, it’s just a leisurely stroll to Ningxia Night Market, where the city’s famed street food culture comes alive.

And if you’d rather stay in, Regent Taipei has you covered with its very own Regent Galleria, an upscale shopping arcade tucked inside the hotel.

Fun fact: Apparently Lady Gaga, Takuya Kimura, Mariah Carey have all stayed here. With over 500 rooms, this place clearly knows how to handle VIP treatment!

My Room: The Tai Pan Executive Experience

I stayed in a Tai Pan Executive Room on the 18th floor, and the first surprise was being handed a traditional room key instead of a plastic card—a small but distinctive touch that instantly set the tone. There was something vintage and unique about turning an actual key in the lock, a novel detail in modern hotels that made the stay feel all the more special.

The room itself is generous with space and light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that frame Zhongshan district views. On a clear day, you can even spot the iconic Taipei 101 soaring above the horizon—a view that never fails to remind you that you’re in one of Asia’s most dynamic cities.

I spent way too much time just standing at that window with my morning coffee, watching the city wake up below. The space feels incredibly generous and airy—none of that cramped hotel room feeling you sometimes get, even in supposedly luxury places. There’s even a dedicated luggage bench to unpack your luggage, which made settling in feel effortless and kept the room beautifully uncluttered.

Welcome amenities go beyond the usual: Silks Hotel’s sparkling Oolong tea and premium sweets from Jiu Zhen Nan offer an immediate taste of local specialities. It’s a lovely gesture that allows you to savour a taste of Taiwan the moment you arrive.

But the perks don’t stop there. Executive guests also get access to a balcony lounge located on the 5th floor with complimentary drinks and canapés throughout the day, useful for informal meetings or simply watching the city unfold below.

The bathroom deserves mention: spacious, well-lit, it features both a rainfall shower and soaking tub—ideal for unwinding after a day of exploring Taipei’s many attractions. Thoughtful amenities such as shampoo, hair conditioner, and shower gel are provided, while the marble countertops and elegant glassware reinforce the hotel’s commitment to luxury in every detail.

Evenings at Regent Taipei came with a thoughtful touch—their turndown service in the Executive Room went beyond the usual chocolates on the pillow. Instead, I was welcomed back with a bottle of Taiwan’s award-winning Kavalan whisky paired with delicate treats from heritage confectioner Jiu Zhen Nan. It felt like a quiet celebration of Taiwanese craftsmanship, all in the comfort of my room.

A Breakfast to Remember at Regent Taipei’s Brasserie

The breakfast buffet at Regent Taipei is truly impressive, offering an extensive selection that caters to international palates while celebrating local flavours. This is the first time I’ve come across Japanese and Korean specialities to international favourites and authentic Taiwanese breakfast items, including local bakes, all available for breakfast! I especially enjoyed the Taiwanese breakfast spread, with its rice balls, fluffy buns, and savoury congee—it was such a comforting way to start the day.

I heard even the locals will visit the hotel just for this wholesome morning feast! I would highly recommend this breakfast experience if you’re travelling in Taipei.

And if waking up early for breakfast isn’t your thing, Regent Taipei offers a Sustainable Brunch every weekend. I’ll share more about it in my next post!

The Award-Winning Wellspring Spa

If you know me, you’ll know I’m a bit of a spa addict—so I was especially delighted to find that Regent Taipei has its very own in-house retreat, Wellspring Spa, perched on the 20th floor. Over the years, it has picked up numerous prestigious awards, earning a reputation as one of Taiwan’s top spa destinations. What makes it even more special is that it’s not just a treat for hotel guests—Wellspring Spa is also popular among locals.

I tried their signature “Traveller’s Favourite” massage, which is designed specifically for frequent flyers dealing with jet lag and muscle tension from long-haul travel.

The spa journey begins with a thorough consultation, including a health questionnaire and discussion about massage pressure preferences. Then I was shown to this spacious treatment room that come with its own steam room and shower facilities which allow me to prepare for and recover from the treatments in complete privacy.

The therapist brought out different aromatic massage oils for me to choose from, explaining what each one does. The actual massage was so good I literally fell asleep.

After the treatment, I had about 15 minutes to freshen up before heading to their serene reception lounge. There, I sipped on complimentary tea, nibbled light refreshments, and just took my time easing back into the real world.

If you’re staying at Regent Taipei, absolutely book a spa treatment. Yes, it’s an extra expense, but if you’ve been travelling loads or just need some serious pampering, it’s worth it.

Hospitality That Feels Like Home

While the property has been around for more than a decade, their level of hospitality remains top-notch. The staff were absolutely lovely, the amenities were thoughtful, and the location couldn’t be better. The whole experience just made me feel so looked after and special—which is exactly what we look for in a luxury hotel stay. Regent Taipei embodies its core philosophy of ‘to serve as we would like to be served’ (將心比心、待人如己), and you can feel that sincerity in every detail.

Next, I’ll take you through the culinary journey at Regent Taipei and beyond, where every bite was as memorable as the experience itself. Stay tuned for a full foodie rundown!
