Warabimochi Kamakura: Best Japanese Mochi Drinks and Desserts in Singapore

Let us welcome the newest Japanese chain store to brace our shores, Warabimochi Kamakura. The famous Japanese mochi chain is opening their very first outlet in Singapore at One Holland Village. Warabimochi Kamakura is best known for their mochi desserts and mochi inspired drink selection which has gained vast popularity back home in Japan.

If you are an avid fan of bubble tea, here’s something similar but different. Presenting, Warabimochi’s mochi signature line of drinks, available in 4 distinct flavors.

These are:

  • Strawberry Yoghurt (Milk option available)
  • Asakawa-en Matcha
  • Coffee Milk
  • Tenku No Hojicha

Strawberry Yoghurt and Milk options come with a strawberry mochi base, whilst the other three flavors all come with a brown sugar mochi base. If you’re deciding which to pick between the Strawberry Milk and Yoghurt, the yoghurt is best for those who prefer a mix of sweet and sour. These drinks also can be ordered in two sizes: small and medium. Pricing for these drinks start at $5.90 for small and $7.90 for medium. While the strawberry series prices start from $7.90 for small and $9.90 for medium.

Our favorite drinks are the Strawberry Yoghurt, and the Asakawa-en Matcha, which goes very well with the brown sugar mochi base!

Let’s also not forget the brand’s Warabimochi. These mochi are unlike the local version of muah chee that we have here in Singapore. Instead, these are much softer, similar to a gooey gelatinous consistency that is covered in a light dusting of Kinako (roasted soybean flour), as opposed to ground peanuts and sugar that we know all too well. These can be taken away in a Paulownia Wooden Box or a cup and are even better paired with their brown sugar drizzle topping.

  • 5-Piece box ($7.90)
  • 10-Piece box ($14.90)
  • 10-Piece Paulownia Wooden Box ($17.90)
  • 2-Piece Cup ($3.90)
  • 2-Piece Cup with Ice Cream ($5.90)

Currently this outlet does not have any seats for onsite dining, however, there are sleek wooden bar tops that patrons can stand around and dine on their mochi or drinks while looking out to the mall’s central plaza.

This new addition is definitely a great place to check out for an after-meal dessert or a nice cool refreshing drink on a hot day. This new outlet also recently has had snaking queues and a 1-for-1 promo during the launch weekend. If you are Warabimochi fan, more good news may be in store as there are also plans in the works to bring in another outlet to the Orchard vicinity in the near future.

Stay tuned for more!
