Taiwan has long been a popular travel destination for Singaporeans. Due to the pandemic, Taiwan’s borders were closed to international travel for about 2.5 years, and it has recently phased out its COVID-19 travel requirement in February 2023.
As the country emerges from the pandemic, the government has taken proactive measures to revitalise its tourism industry.
In a recent announcement in May 2023, the Taiwanese government will be issuing travel vouchers, aimed at stimulating tourism and enticing foreign visitors to explore the country. These vouchers will be distributed through a lucky draw system meaning every foreign traveller entering the country will stand a chance to win from now till 2025.
According to the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, the first 250,000 vouchers will be given out in 2023, while the remaining 150,000 vouchers will be distributed in 2024, and 100,000 vouchers in 2025.

The travel vouchers are distributed via a lucky draw system which requires travellers to register online first (at least 1 day and within 7 days before your arrival): https://5000.taiwan.net.tw/index_en.html
In order to register for the lucky draw, you must provide your personal information and flight numbers. You will also be required to choose between electronic tickets and accommodation vouchers. After completing registration, you will receive a QR code to scan upon arrival in Taiwan. (Pls don’t lose the QR code!)
When you have landed in Taiwan, simply walk to the lucky draw counter located in the arrival halls to participate in the lucky draw. Simply scan your QR code at the counter to see if you’re the lucky winner!
Honestly, the queues at Taiwanese airport arrival halls can be long but hey, it’s still worth a shot to stretch your travel budget!
Types of Prizes Available (Worth NT$5000)
The prizes are worth NT$5000 (SGD$213). If you’re the lucky winner, you can choose among these 3 types of prizes: E-ticket iPass, E-ticket EasyCard, or Accommodation vouchers.
E-ticket iPass
The E-ticket iPass can be used at partner stores in Taiwan where the store accepts small-value payments from the e-ticket platform, with a maximum of NT$1,000 for a single purchase and a maximum of NT$3,000 for same-day purchass.
E-ticket-EasyCard
The E-ticket EasyCard can be used at partner stores in Taiwan where the store accepts small-value payments from the e-ticket platform, with a maximum of NT$1,500 for a single purchase and a maximum of NT$3,000 for same-day purchases.
Accommodation Vouchers
If you choose Accommodation Vouchers, you will receive 5 vouchers of NT$1000 and the vouchers can only be used by the winners themselves. Each voucher can be used once and no change or resale is allowed. The voucher is applicable to tourist hotels and B&Bs in Taiwan that have obtained a tourist hotel license or a registration certificate in accordance with these regulations.
