Top 5 Theme Parks In Malaysia

-

When you think of Malaysia — an image of a hot and humid tropical city, street stalls with unique and yummy food, and a mild city/nature experience come to mind. In fact, there’s little to nothing in the country that will get your heart racing and the endorphins rushing.

After all, Malaysia is not well-known for extreme sports and adrenaline-inducing activities. Case in point, you won’t find many famous theme parks ala Disneyland and Universal Studios on its shores.

That being said, Malaysia still remains one of the favourites when it comes to a fun destination to visit with friends and family. The numerous theme parks in Malaysia — though not as huge as the ones we’ve mentioned — provide an alternative for visitors looking for a fun-filled holiday.

From water sports to sky-high rides, Malaysia’s theme parks present the opportunity for a tropical escape. And with the upcoming 20th Century Fox World Malaysia slated to be completed in 2020, we are inspired to find the best theme parks in Malaysia for you to visit the next time you’re in town.

So without further ado, here are the five best theme parks in Malaysia.

Remember when we mentioned that 20th Century Fox World would be opening its doors in 2020? Well, this new and exciting theme park will be located in Genting Highlands — a reputable name in the hospitality and theme park industry.

Aside from the forthcoming Fox World, Genting Highland features an extravaganza of activities for all its visitors. For those looking to get lucky, try your hand in the Sky Casino (with moderation, of course). For those looking to take in the picturesque views, the mountainous region of Genting provides ample source material. And most importantly, for the shopaholics, Genting Premium Outlet is just a gondola (or taxi) ride away!

But, the crème de la crème of Genting Highlands has got to be its theme park. Specifically, Genting recently reopened its indoor theme park to the glee of theme park enthusiasts and holidaymakers out there.

Now named the Skytropolis Funland Indoor Theme Park, this park spans over 400,000 sq ft with over 20 new rides located in the First World Plaza.

The theme park features various children’s rides, along with family rides such as carousels and spinning teacups. For the adventurous, there are also thrill rides to get your blood pumping. Sky Towers and Spin Crazy, for example, will get your head spinning and heart racing.

Otherwise, other attractions include Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Adventureland and Snow World.

4. ESCAPE Theme Park

Next on our list is for you adventure seekers (and the young at heart) out there.

ESCAPE Theme Park is found on the tiny island of Penang — and more specifically, in the serene jungles of Teluk Bahang. This theme park was built in a natural setting and features physical activities for adults and children alike.

Quite the refreshing change of pace from the city, the activities at ESCAPE are a throwback to your formative years, where climbing jungle gyms and swinging on ropes was the norm. To that end, Atan’s Leap, Monkey Business, Go Ape, etc. are some of the many fun-filled activities you can do here.

If you’re worried about the safety of your children, fret not. ESCAPE provides the highest quality of safety equipment for your children while they are having the time of their lives.

5. Legoland Malaysia

As the name implies, this theme park is themed (get it?) after the ever-popular Danish toy — Lego. You’ll find Lego merchandise and paraphernalia strewn about throughout the park and its accompanying Legoland hotel.

The rides and attractions here are constructed out of Lego Bricks (not literally) and present exciting opportunities to test your bravery. Oh, and have we mentioned that the Legoland Theme Park is the first international theme park in Malaysia?

Everything in the park is a treat for your senses. You’ll be able to push, create, dismantle or assemble just about anything you can get your hands on. But as far as attractions go, the theme park offers the usual suspects. Expect a Water Park, Wave Pool, roller coasters, and the like. Moreover, you can even flex your creative muscles in the Build-A-Raft area.

A not-to-be-missed attraction in the theme park is Miniland — an area featuring landmarks in Asia recreated through the colourful plastic bricks.
