In November 2023, Catherine Tan, an iRecommend Club member, accompanied by her husband and 9-year-old son, embarked on an unforgettable journey across the captivating landscapes of Japan. Their week-long adventure took them through the bustling cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, marked by cultural immersion, culinary delights, and unforgettable moments, all made easier and more convenient with the ChangiWiFi router. Let’s delve into Catherine’s extraordinary expedition with her family and their experiences with ChangiWiFi.

Exciting Sights that Delight

Every day was filled with new discoveries and enriching encounters from the moment they arrived on November 3rd until their departure on the 10th. Throughout their trip, the ChangiWiFi router proved to be an invaluable companion for the Tan family, ensuring seamless connectivity all the way. With just one device, they stayed effortlessly connected, enabling them to navigate unfamiliar streets, share their experiences with friends in real time, and keep up with important information on the move. Catherine is truly impressed with the router’s reliability and compact size, which made it an essential travel accessory.

Preferred Usage #1: Searching for the best route to their destination and checking the next train schedule while on the go

The Tan family found the ChangiWiFi router particularly useful for navigating Japan’s intricate public transportation system. With the ability to search for the best routes to their destinations and access real-time train schedules on the go, they were able to optimise their travel plans and make the most of their time exploring the cities of Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe.

Preferred Usage #2: Keep the little one entertained with video streaming

ChangiWiFi router ensured reliable video streaming, allowing Catherine’s 9-year-old son to enjoy a variety of edutainment including imaginative gameplay on platforms like Roblox and Pokémon Go. Whether on lengthy train rides or during lulls between sightseeing excursions, the router offered uninterrupted connectivity, keeping him engaged and inspired throughout the journey.

Preferred Usage #3: Tracking steps!

During their morning hike at Fushimi-Inari, the ChangiWiFi router enabled the Tan family to track their steps and monitor their progress along the trail. With detailed maps and GPS functionality, they navigated the winding paths of the shrine grounds, soaking in the serene beauty of the torii gates and lush forest surroundings.

Catherine’s tip: “Go early in the morning (before 8 am) when it’s less crowded to fully enjoy the hike up to the peak. The ascent is relatively easy as there are proper steps.”

Preferred Usage #4: City exploration

Exploring the charming streets of Kyoto on foot was made simpler by the ChangiWiFi router, which provided reliable internet connectivity wherever they went. From historic temples to traditional teahouses, they wandered through the city’s picturesque neighbourhoods, immersing themselves in its rich cultural heritage and timeless beauty.

Usage 5: Sharing and capturing moments

The ChangiWiFi router enabled easy sharing and capturing of precious moments throughout the Tan family’s journey. Whether sharing live updates from bustling markets like Kuromon Market or video calling grandparents back home in Singapore to share their adventures, they could stay connected and document their experiences every step of the way.

Catherine’s tip: “It’s very much a tourist spot. You can skip it if you have limited time in Osaka.”

In addition to these experiences, the Tan family relied on the ChangiWiFi router to prepare for unexpected weather conditions, ensuring they were equipped for rainy days while exploring attractions like the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.

Catherine’s tip: “The Arashiyama Bamboo Forest stretch is shorter than expected, so it won’t take too much time to explore it.”

Feasting to the Their Heart’s Content

Amidst the scenic sights and attractions, the family also had the pleasure of sampling a plethora of exquisite culinary offerings, with three standout restaurants leaving a lasting impression on their palates and hearts.

Personal Favourite Restaurant #1: Ikinari Steak Hozenji

Catherine and her family highly recommend the delectable steaks at this restaurant, which come at affordable prices. Not only did the steaks satisfy their cravings, but the friendly and pleasant service crew also added an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience.

Personal Favourite Restaurant #2: Ohmiya Seiuemon CrayPot Soup Curry

The curry soup at Ohmiya Seiuemon CrayPot Soup Curry was unlike any curry Catherine had tasted before. She loved how well the vegetables mixed with the soup, and finding a quail egg inside was a delightful surprise. What made it even better was being able to choose how spicy it was.

Personal Favourite Restaurant #3: Makino Tempura

Catherine liked how the delicious tempura dishes were served individually, with the chef carefully pacing the orders, bringing out only 1-2 pieces at a time. Additionally, the option of refillable rice and the availability of an English menu made the dining experience even more enjoyable for them. It’s now their must-visit spot in Kobe!

As their journey drew to a close, Catherine reflected on the transformative power of travel and the enduring memories created along the way. With ChangiWiFi router by their side,  the Tan family found themselves seamlessly connected to the pulse of Japan, enabling them to navigate unfamiliar streets, share real-time updates with loved ones, and immerse themselves fully in the rich tapestry of the country’s culture and cuisine.
