The luxury hotel brand’s first foray into Japan delivers breathtaking views, culinary excellence, and a very special four-legged welcome committee
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has opened its first hotel in Japan with the launch of Fairmont Tokyo on 1st July 2025. Spanning floors 35 to 43 of the BLUE FRONT SHIBAURA tower, the hotel offers luxury accommodation with glittering views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay.
A Strategic Urban Oasis
Location is everything in Tokyo, and Fairmont has secured prime real estate in the tranquil Shibaura district. This isn’t the frenetic pace of Shibuya or the neon-soaked streets of Shinjuku, but rather a serene pocket where picturesque canals wind between modern towers and traditional gardens provide respite from urban intensity.
The positioning is strategically brilliant, just 13 minutes from Haneda Airport and six minutes from both Tokyo and Shinagawa stations.

From the hotel’s lofty perch, guests enjoy unobstructed vistas that capture Tokyo’s beautiful duality—the serene expanse of Tokyo Bay stretching eastward, while the pulsing metropolis unfolds to the west, crowned by the iconic Tokyo Tower.
Sky-high Culinary Discovery

Seven distinct restaurants and bars transform the hotel into a dining destination that rivals Tokyo’s legendary culinary landscape. Kiln & Tonic brings Mediterranean coastal vibes to the 35th floor, where wood-fired pizzas and grilled seafood are served alongside breathtaking Tokyo Tower views. For a more refined experience, Vue Mer seamlessly blends French café culture with Japanese sensibilities, offering elegant afternoon teas and panoramic bay vistas.
Traditional Japanese cuisine receives contemporary treatment at Migiwa and Totsuji, where sushi and teppanyaki are reimagined with creative flair while honouring time-tested techniques. DRIFTWOOD elevates Yoshoku—Japan’s beloved Western-influenced cuisine—with seasonal ingredients and inventive cocktails, all framed by sweeping tower views.
For those seeking authentic local flavours, Yoi to Yoi serves elevated Japanese street food with perfectly crafted highballs, whilst OFF RECORD offers an intimate journey into Tokyo’s clandestine listening bar culture, where vinyl records, rare spirits, and soulful bites create an atmospheric escape.
Wellness Above the Clouds
The 35th-floor spa and health club capitalises on the hotel’s sky-high setting, offering treatments that incorporate locally sourced ingredients alongside Fairmont Tokyo’s signature oils. The 24-hour gymnasium features state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, while the 20-metre indoor infinity pool creates the illusion of swimming into the Tokyo skyline. Perhaps most impressive is the outdoor sundeck by the relaxation pool—imagine unwinding in a sauna while Tokyo Tower glitters in the distance.

Design That Tells Stories
Internationally acclaimed BAR Studio has crafted interiors that serve as living canvases, where artistry meets urban energy through a harmonious fusion of colour, texture, and light. Curated artworks throughout the property pay homage to traditional Japanese techniques like Kintsugi and weaving.

The 217 rooms and suites, ranging from 52 to 278 square metres, occupy floors 36 to 42. Each features expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and seating areas inspired by the traditional Japanese ‘Engawa’—that transitional space between interior and exterior that perfectly captures the hotel’s philosophy of connection.
A Very Special Welcome Committee

Perhaps the most charming detail is Serene, a Labrador Retriever who holds the official title of Chief Happiness Officer. This four-legged ambassador greets guests in the ground-floor lobby, embodying the warmth and authenticity that Fairmont promises to bring to Japanese hospitality.
For travellers who appreciate elevated experiences without sacrificing an authentic connection to place, this sky-high sanctuary offers a compelling reason to return to Tokyo.
