Luxury Hotel Group Banyan will open Mandai Rainforest Resort in Singapore come 2025. This will be the group’s first property in the island city state with this resort nestled in the heart of Mandai Wildlife Reserve (comprising of 5 wildlife parks). The current 4 parks that are operational are Bird Paradise, Night Safari, River Wonders and Singapore Zoo. The fifth park, Rainforest Wild will open to visitors next year when the resort opens with Rainforest Wild Asia and Rainforest Wild Africa to be geographically themed.
Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree will have a land area of almost 5 hectares with 338-rooms, a state-of-the-art gym room, a rooftop swimming pool and 24 raised seed pod-shaped treehouses set among the surrounding foliage – some of which look out to the reservoir. The resort will also host a specialty restaurant that uses sustainably-sourced ingredients. The resort will also offer spa experiences and local creations from community artists within the resort.
The resort’s architecture is heavily influenced by Biophilia and is also infused in all of the resort’s programs, signature amenities and service. This inspiration honors Banyan Group’s rich legacy of honouring the essence of the location it is in. Various layers of the rainforest are illustrated within these guest rooms to inspire guests to appreciate the flora and fauna around the local area.
Mandai Rainforest Resort also will be the first ever Super Low Energy (SLE) resort in Singapore featuring smart control strategies, passive infrared occupancy sensors, and passive displacement ventilation, a solution that helps to cool the air using chilled water rather than traditional air conditioning compressor units.
In late 2024, local can also enjoy free and accessible boardwalk options to explore the natural environment deeper. This boardwalk route has been built adjacent to the edge of the Upper Seletar Reservoir offering scenic views across the Upper Seletar Reservoir. The Mandai Boardwalk is free for everyone to access at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. Visitors here can immerse themselves in nature and greenery outside the ticketed parks. You can find the entrance to the boardwalk located next to River Wonders.
Rainforest Wild Asia will be the first zoological park in Asia to incorporate adventure elements into it’s design. This zone wlll offer a range of routes to cater to different expedition trails. Each trail gives you the chance to see different animals like the Malayan Tiger, Malayan sun bear, and francois langur, a brand new species being exhibited in Singapore for the first time.
Rainforest Wild Africa on the other hand, will provide guests with Afro-Tropical and Madagascar-inspired landscapes with animals such as the Pygmy hippo and elusive Okapi – also a new species brought to Singapore. Meander through the ravine formations and enjoy an aerial view of the adventures ahead.
