Singapore is set to host its very first Studio Ghibli exhibition, “The World of Studio Ghibli” opening at the Art Science Museum from 4 October 2024 until 2 February 2025. This exhibition promises to bring the magic of Studio Ghibli’s enchanting world to life like never before.

Experience Studio Ghibli’s Magic in Singapore

The exhibition named “The World of Studio Ghibli” invites fans to step into the whimsical universes crafted by one of Japan’s most revered animation studios. Encompassing a dazzling array of 11 beloved films throughout 16 large art installations that spans 2,400 square metres, visitors will have the chance to encounter iconic characters and immersive scenes from classics such as “My Neighbour Totoro” (1988), “Kiki’s Delivery Service” (1989), “Spirited Away” (2001) and “Howl’s Moving Castle” (2004).

Through a blend of theatrical sets, interactive art installations and engaging activities, the exhibition offers a multi-sensory experience that captures the charm and creativity of Studio Ghibli’s cinematic worlds. The exhibition will provide a deep dive into the extraordinary characters and captivating stories that have made Studio Ghibli a global phenomenon.

A Celebrated Legacy

Founded in 1985 by directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki with producer Toshio Suzuki, Studio Ghibli has made a lasting impact on animation. Renowned for its groundbreaking work, the studio’s films have won global acclaim including Academy Award® nominations. Most notably, “The Boy and the Heron” (2023) won the Best Animated Feature at the 96th Academy Awards and the studio received an Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024, celebrating over 40 years of creative excellence.

“The World of Studio Ghibli” first debuted in Japan in 2013 and has since travelled to South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Bangkok. The upcoming exhibition includes new additions from Studio Ghibli’s latest film, “The Boy and the Heron” (2023).

Ticket Information

For those visiting, tickets will be available for purchase as follows:

  • Sands Lifestyle Members: Enjoy exclusive pre-sale access from 29 July 2024 at 10am, through 2 August 2024. Members can secure tickets with special discounts and perks at Marina Bay Sands box offices and their online platform.
  • General Sales: Tickets for the general public will go on sale from 3 August 2024 at 10am and can be purchased through any Marina Bay Sands box office.

The exhibition will open on 4 October 2024 and run until 2 February 2025. It will be open daily from 10am to 7pm with the last entry at 6pm.
