From Tracks to Stays: Repurposed Train Becomes Singapore’s Co-Living Hotel Set to Open in September 2024

If you’re a fan of themed hotel stays, here’s an exciting news—you’re in for a ride! Come September 2024, Singapore will welcome its first co-living hotel housed within repurposed carriages of a decommissioned SMRT train. More than just a novel concept, this inventive lodging option is also making waves for its commitment to sustainability by giving old trainsets a exciting new lease on life.

Developed by local start-up Tiny Pod with the support of JTC Corporation, the innovative Train Pod @ one-north will feature eight ensuite rooms and a public recreational green space. Guests can relax on repurposed train chairs, enjoy vending machine snacks, or securely park their bicycles. The co-living hotel will be located at the car park next to Block 69 Ayer Rajah Crescent in Singapore.

What’s interesting to know is that the train hotel concept is also an extension to Tiny Pod’s existing pop-up shipping container hotel at LaunchPad @ one-north. Since then, the company’s eco-friendly containerised accommodations have expanded to occupy urban spaces like Gardens by the Bay and Haw Par Villa.

The train hotel is currently under construction, but details regarding bookings and room rates have not been confirmed yet. So stay tuned for more updates!
