Design & Heritage

The current hotel sits on the former estate known as ‘Villa Marie’, a 1940’s built mansion by avid botanist Tan Hoon Siang. In the current design of the modern hotel, the building has a striking tower to pay homage to this botanical heritage. The exterior of the hotel is also covered in pockets of lush greenery across its trellised columns, also hanging off its sky gardens. Around the hotel are pocket gardens, courtyards, and covered walkways surrounded by greenery on both sides to welcome guests into an oasis experience upon stepping into the hotel.

The hotel’s design draws deep inspiration from Singapore’s vibrant tapestry of culture, echoing the site of the former tropical garden villa. The hotel’s architecture narrative follows that of verdant greenery across sky terraces and balconies. This design is an architectural statement in modern design, where they have married sustainability and the lushness of Singapore’s garden city ethos (providing a cool, comfortable haven amidst the tropical climate.
