If you flew all the way to Paris and came home empty-handed, did you really do Paris? This summer, the city makes the splurge a little kinder on the wallet.
From 1 July to 31 August 2026, Printemps Haussmann, the grand department store that has graced Boulevard Haussmann since 1865, is offering enhanced tax refunds of up to 16% for visitors from outside the EU.

Here’s how it works. As a visitor from outside the EU, you qualify for VAT détaxe on your shopping from a spend of €100. Simply put, the more you spend, the more comes back: 12% to start, rising through the tiers to 16% once you pass €10,000. Opt for a card refund to keep the full rate.
A few things worth knowing before you go. The offer covers most of the store’s labels, though a handful, Louis Vuitton and Goyard among them, sit it out. You’ll want to be 16 or over, visiting France for under six months, with your original passport on hand. And do buffer in extra time at the Charles de Gaulle airport before you leave as your tax-free form needs a customs stamp before you check your bags, or the refund slips away.

The tax refund is reason enough to start here, but this place rewards a slower visit. Printemps spreads across three buildings, fashion and beauty, home, and children’s, so plan your route wisely. A few ways to shop well:

Go up for the view. Take the lift to the rooftop terrace for one of the finest free panoramas in Paris, the Eiffel Tower and Opéra rooftops laid out before you. It’s a fine spot to catch your breath between floors.

Browse the vintage floor. On the seventh floor of the women’s building sits 7th Heaven, a 1,300sqm space given over to designer vintage and second-hand fashion beneath the historic Binet dome, with its own panoramic outlook. Treat it as a treasure hunt, though note that pre-loved pieces fall outside the tax refund, so choose wisely.

Build in a proper break. Pause for lunch at Brasserie Bleu Coupole or sample classic French plates at Printemps du Goût. Better still, time your visit for the daily gourmet tea time, served from 3pm to 7pm, where the pastry counter will leave you wanting for more.
So linger a little longer, treat yourself a little better, and let Paris send you home with more than just photos. Bon shopping.
