The B787-8, one of the most versatile and fuel efficient aircraft in the industry has been configured by Air Japan to seat 324 passengers in a all economy class 3-3-3 layout. These seats have a seat width of 17.5 inches and a seat pitch of 32 inches, slightly better than the low-cost airline industry average where seat widths are 17.2-17.3 inches, and seat pitches more commonly around 30-31 inches. The seats itself are made of high quality faux leather to offer greater comfort on those longer haul routes.

Seats are fitted out with tray tables, USB-C and A type ports, and a tablet/phone stand that comes in the seat back. A nice extra touch is also the seat back cup holder on the back of the tray table when stored. It is quite unusual to see this on a low-cost carrier, so kudos to the airline for this! With all these new features, it makes watching your favourite streaming app on your own personal device hassle free for that long haul flight.

The airline follows the low cost airline model where it charges additional for onboard WIFI and additional baggage allowance. Additionally, service onboard includes a buy-on-board for food, amenities and goods.

With this new option driving down the prices of competition on this popular route, will you be planning a trip to Japan any time soon?
