Vivid Ideas

The theme for this year’s vivid festival surrounds the notion of ‘Humanity’ with many booths to pop up in and around the city. Other than the brighter luminous light displays and installations of art projected on many iconic buildings around the Sydney Harbour, the festival is taking a more socio-cultural approach this year in portraying the themes of this festival to the crowds.

It takes the form as film screenings which focus on the ‘Golden Age of Cinema’, a series of talks regarding current affairs, immersive and cultural dance performances and highlighting the common themes of ‘the human experience’. Relating to the new concept of ‘ideas’, highlighted at this year’s Vivid is the discourse on Sydney’s sex work industry touching on the rawness of the challenges that many workers face in this modern day and age.

Vivid Live and Vivid Music

A diverse range of traditional and local musical acts will be part of the soundtrack lineup, with 21-Year-Old musician Budjerah and American Indie Duo Deerhoof. There will also be a series of shows lined up at some of the most iconic cultural show sites in Sydney such as the Opera House itself and the newly opened Machine Hall Precint. Playing at the Opera House stage will be more than 50 different artists alone.
