Tom Yum Crickets and Plant-based Shawarma? Experience it all at Flavours of Tomorrow Festival (25 to 27 April)

Fancy crunching on Tom Yum-flavoured crickets or sinking your teeth into a plant-based shawarma that tastes just like the real thing? These innovative food experiences and more await at the second edition of Singapore’s Flavours of Tomorrow Festival, returning to Geneo at Singapore Science Park from 25 to 27 April 2025.

The three-day event, running from 10am to 7pm daily, showcases groundbreaking culinary inventions that support Singapore’s ambitious “30 by 30” food sustainability goal, which aims to produce 30% of the nation’s nutritional needs locally by 2030.

Innovative Food Experiences

Last year’s inaugural festival attracted over 4,000 visitors, and this year’s edition promises an even more exciting array of alternative food options. Adventurous foodies can sample Insect Yumz’s protein-packed Tom Yum Crickets or try Shandi Global’s plant-based shawarma, which delivers the flavour and texture of chicken using proprietary technology without artificial additives.

Other highlights include cacao-free chocolates, Singapore’s home-grown strawberries, and plant-based versions of local favourites. Visitors can enjoy meatless burgers from Goodburger, vegan and keto treats from Jammy’s Gelato, Kind Bowl’s unique walnut pâté banh mi, and meat-free interpretations of 8Degrees’ popular braised beef and pork rice bowls.

“We’re seeing more foodtech businesses investing their resources into developing alternative food options that would suit Singaporeans,” said Sean Mak, Chief Operating Officer of Innovate 360. “Our goal is for Singaporeans to make alternative food ingredients a natural choice.”

Beyond Food

The festival features more than just edible innovations:

  • Sustainable retail market: Over 20 retail booths showcasing eco-friendly products from food to clothing to household items
  • Live demonstrations: Chef Joyce of WakaMama and Chef Schira Hassan will conduct cooking demonstrations on April 26 and 27
  • Industry talks: Food tech experts will lead discussions on functional drinks, business innovation, and reducing food waste on April 25
  • Entertainment: Performances by Singaporean bands including EH Bandits and NoonBeat
  • Prizes: Opportunities to win three-day, two-night stays at Citadines Science Park Singapore and twenty $200 Trip.com vouchers

“As the master developer and operator of Singapore Science Park, we are pleased to bring back the Flavours of Tomorrow Festival to showcase our agri-food tech partners and life sciences ecosystem,” said Mr Chew Peet Mun, Managing Director of Investment and Development, CapitaLand Development (Singapore).

Redefining Singapore’s Food Landscape

The festival aims to transform perceptions by demonstrating that sustainable food options can be both practical and delicious. Through interactive demonstrations and discussions, visitors will discover how plant-based proteins and other innovative food technologies can effectively substitute traditional staples while being resource-efficient and nutritionally valuable.

Whether you’re curious about insects as a sustainable protein source, interested in plant-based alternatives, or simply looking for a unique culinary adventure, the Flavours of Tomorrow Festival offers a glimpse into Singapore’s sustainable food future.

The Flavours of Tomorrow Festival is a collaborative effort between CapitaLand’s Singapore Science Park, Innovate 360, and BLOCK71, an initiative by NUS Enterprise.
