If you’re looking for a new city to explore amongst the vast landscape of China, consider Guiyang as your next travel destination! From 15 November 2024, Changi Airport has added Guiyang, China, to its growing network. This route is operated by Tianjin Airlines, a new airline to Changi Airport.
Established in 2004, Tianjin Airlines mainly operates domestic flights within China. Singapore will be its first Southeast Asia destination. Other international destinations include Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
Tianjin Airlines operates the flights between Singapore and Guiyang on its Airbus A320s. Meals are catered on outbound flights from Singapore, but not on inbound flights – so consider packing a light snack before boarding your flight back from Guiyang.
After a relatively short 4-hour flight, get ready to explore the capital of Guizhou province. Guiyang is known for still being faithful to its traditional roots, and possesses many historical sites. If you’re one for exploring what’s in the history books, do pay a visit to Qingyan Ancient Town, which is home to beautiful ancient Chinese architecture dating back to the year 1378.
Located much closer to the city centre, the Jiaxiu Pavilion is also a historical building worth visiting. Built in 1598, the Jiaxiu Pavilion is a three-storey tower where one can enjoy a great view of the surrounding scenery and river from the top floor. At night, the pavilion is lit up with lanterns, making for a great photo opportunity with the light reflecting off the nearby river.
Apart from historical attractions, Guiyang also boasts scenic Instagrammable spots. Don’t forget to visit the Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of the largest waterfalls in China towering at 77m high – roughly equivalent to a 25-storey building! The waterfall provides multiple points of view depending on which of the three viewing spot you’re at. Although it is located further from the city centre, connectivity options are plenty, with shuttle buses running directly from Guiyang, and the much nearer Anshun railway station.
The Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport is served by the Guiyang Metro, which connects the airport to the city centre. It is also served by the railway, with a direct connection to Guangzhou and Chongqing with the high-speed rail. Alternatively, there are also other options such as the local buses and taxis.
Tianjin Airlines now operates 4 weekly flights between Guiyang and Singapore. Flights are scheduled to depart from Changi Airport’s Terminal 4 at 5:10am and arrive at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport at 9:15am. Meanwhile, the return flights are scheduled to take-off at 11:25pm and will arrive in Singapore at 4:00am the next day.
