SkyOrb Singapore Cable Car

In celebration of Singapore Cable Car’s (SCC) 50th anniversary, SCC has decided to innovate a more futuristic experience for tourists and locals. Introducing SCC’s newest cable car cabin, the SkyOrb. Singapore Cable Car has been awarded many firsts in the world since it’s opening in 1974. In 1998 for it’s 25th anniversary, it was the first cable car in the world to launch sky dining in a cable car. The Singapore Cable Car has not only become an iconic attraction it itself, but it also is the most scenic mode of transportation from the main island of Singapore to get to Sentosa. This journey starts from as high up as Mount Faber Peak, down to Habourfront, before crossing over the water to reach Sentosa.

SkyOrb Cable Car

Singapore Cable Car has introduced seven next generation cable cars that not only look futuristic, but are also like none other in the world. This new experience was launched on 20th March 2024. The 7 SkyOrb cabins offer a one-of-a-kind experience. The SkyOrb cabin is the world’s first spherical shape with sleek chrome finish, breaking the boundaries of traditional cable car aesthetics with futuristic and captivating looks. The see-through glass floors of the cabin allow guests to have a full birds eye view of Mount Faber Park, Harbourfront, and Sentosa from above. The lighted LED rings on the exterior of the cable car will mesmerise all those below and inside the car by the illuminating glow cast around the cabin windows.

The updated design also sees a much more enhanced ventilation design with the outward opening windows providing better cross ventilation, whilst the improved window louvres allow for more air through flow throughout the cabin. The cabin of each car itself comprises of double window louvres at the front and triple louvres at the rear. This next generation of cabins are SCC’s fifth generation of cable car cabins since the company began 50 years ago.

These SkyOrb cabins are the world’s first chrome spherical cable car cabins, providing an immersive and visually captivating experience with their futuristic look. They measure 2.5m tall and 2.3m wide where each cabin can take up to 6 guests. Take a look at what the view from inside the SkyOrb cabin looks like below.
