Celebrate Deepavali with a Carnival Extravaganza at the Indian Heritage Centre

Immerse yourself in the vibrant traditions of Deepavali at the Indian Heritage Centre’s (IHC) annual Deepavali Open House from 5 to 27 October 2024! This year’s event is themed as a carnival, inviting visitors to revel in the colourful atmosphere of the Festival of Lights.

A Festive Overview

This year’s Deepavali Open House spans four weekends, each filled with exciting activities and programmes:

First Weekend (5-6 October)

Kick off the celebrations with the Festive Heritage Market, where you can browse handcrafted treasures and festive trinkets.

Second Weekend (12-13 October)

Food lovers won’t want to miss the Festive Indian Cooking Demo with MasterChef SG winner Inderpal Singh, featuring delicious recipes like kadai chicken and paneer jalfrezi and whip out vegetarian delicacies at the Flavours of Little India – Immersive Cooking Demo with Chef Sowmiya. Those who are looking for something more artistic to do can take part in the Kalamkari Art Painting Workshop or the Kala Sangam Lobby Demo.

Third Weekend (19-20 October)

Create beautiful floral displays at the Carnival of Blooms: Deepavali Floral Arrangement Workshop and go on a breakfast adventure on the Little India Thosai Walking Trail. Children can also have fun and take part in the Kids Deepavali Adventure Bootcamp and learn more about stories of Deepavali at the Stories of Deepavali – Traditional Shadow Puppet Visual Installation.

Final Weekend (26-27 October)

Explore Little India with the Little India Prata Walking Trail, indulging in delicious prata while uncovering the area’s rich heritage.

Throughout the Open House, families can also enjoy various free activities, craft sessions, live performances and guided tours of the IHC’s permanent galleries.

Don’t miss out on the chance to grab limited-edition Deepavali money packets and enjoy free henna drawings and teatime snacks.

Nearest MRT station: Little India station. Follow the signs towards Campbell Lane and you’ll find the IHC nestled within the vibrant Little India precinct.
