Hainanese chicken rice is a fragrant dish of poached chicken and flavourful rice, served with chili, ginger, and soy sauce, and it’s a Singaporean favourite! Sam Leong St Chicken Rice was established in a humble coffeeshop in 1992 by Uncle Heng. Over the years, Uncle Heng’s time-tested recipe gained him many loyal patrons, including Mr. Fong, the founder of PUTIEN. Having struck up a deep friendship while bonding over a shared love of food, Uncle Heng entrusted Mr. Fong with the mission to continue his legacy through Sam Leong St Chicken Rice. Sam Leong St Chicken Rice is part of the PUTIEN Group of restaurants, which is founded and headquartered in Singapore.
The restaurant, now a modern air-conditioned establishment, serves generous portions of chicken, whether poached or roasted, along with fragrant rice, soup, and the signature chili sauce, just the way Uncle Heng used to make it.
Sam Leong St Chicken Rice has been a halal-certified restaurant since December 2024.
