AUSTRALIA, Sydney – Probably Sydney’s best-known landmark, and definitely one of the most photographed structures in the world, the Sydney Opera House is an icon of not just Sydney, but the whole Australia itself.

The significance of the white sail-shaped shell structure, however, transcends its value as a mere architectural wonder. Signalling a bid to turn Sydney into a cultural capital, the Opera House was birthed in 1973 as a multipurpose performing arts facility that has since become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

While its pearl white silhouette shines bright during the day, at night, along with the entire waterscape, the Sydney Opera House comes alive with magical lights that dazzles the entire night sky. The annual Vivid Festival that happens mid-year proves to be a show-stopper and a whole other way to appreciate the Sydney stalwart.
