Japan is set to welcome a groundbreaking new attraction this October, the Nintendo Museum. Located in Kyoto, this museum offers a unique opportunity to delve into the rich history of Nintendo’s entertainment products, from its early Hanafuda cards to the modern Nintendo Switch. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or a curious newcomer, the Nintendo Museum promises an immersive and nostalgic experience.
What to Expect
The Nintendo Museum will showcase a comprehensive history of Nintendo’s diverse entertainment products. On the 2nd floor of Exhibition Building 1, visitors can explore a range of Nintendo products displayed with minimal explanation, encouraging personal interpretation and interaction.
The 1st floor features interactive play experiences enhanced by modern technology, offering nostalgic and new forms of entertainment which includes:
- Shigureden SP: Engage with Hyakunin Isshu poems using smart devices and a giant screen.
- Zapper & Scope SP: Experience shooting games with iconic Nintendo peripherals.
- Ultra Hand SP: Use the Ultra Hand to interact with objects in a playful environment.
- Nintendo Classics: Play over 80 classic Nintendo games, including those from the NES and SNES eras.
- Big Controller: Controllers from past hardware generations made giant. Two people must work together to take on challenges in games released back in the day.
- Hanafuda Workshops: Create your own Hanafuda cards and learn the rules of this historical game.
Don’t miss out on a delicious meal in the immersive world of Nintendo! Visit the Café, where you can explore an interactive menu to create your ideal hamburger from over 270,000 possible ingredient combinations. Be sure to check out the gift shop, where you’ll find official Nintendo merchandise and exclusive items available only at the Nintendo Museum.

Ticket Prices
- Adult (ages 18+): ¥3,300 (~SGD$30)
- Youth (ages 12-17): ¥2,200 (~SGD$20)
- Child (ages 6-11): ¥1,100 (~SGD$10)
- Preschooler (ages 0-5): Free
Tickets are available via an advance lottery system for up to three months in advance. You can only purchase tickets once you’re selected. To join the workshop, you’ll need to make a reservation on the day of your visit (additional fees apply).

- Ogura Station (Kintetsu Railway Kyoto Line): 5-minute walk from the East exit
- JR Ogura Station (JR Nara Line): 8-minute walk from the North exit
