This hotpot restaurant in Shibuya is perfect for solo diners who want to take a break from their busy day and enjoy some delicious food. In fact, it isn’t awkward to dine alone with this cute setup!

Kumachan Onsen, originally from Sapporo, Hokkaido, is a restaurant that specialises in teddy bear hotpot. The name Kumachan Onsen literally translates as “teddy bear hot springs.”

You can tell you’re in for a treat by the colourful Kumachan (bear) because there are a variety of broths to choose from, including bonito dashi stock, spicy tantan soup, chicken collagen broth, Korean-style gochujang soup, and Junmai Ginjo sake miso broth. Imagine your Kumachan is taking a dip in an onsen bath! Once Kumachan is fully submerged into the water, you can start dipping your choice of meat in the broth! All meals come with veggies, dipping sauce and your choice of boiled dumplings, ramen or tteokbokki rice cakes as a side.

If you’re going to Tokyo, remember to make a reservation in advance to avoid being disappointed!
