I’m sure most of us thought 2020 was the year we get to travel to far-flung places, spruce up our Instagram with plenty of #travelgoals. But the C word happened so quickly and left us feeling restless. The year 2020 has become the year of “Confinement”. Recently, I received a notification to renew my passport, which to be honest, felt like a cruel joke. But at least, there’s the internet to take us around the world—virtually.
While opportunities for travel and new experiences abroad are limited physically, virtual tours are on the rise which allows us to discover new places and cultures from the comfort of our own home.
I’ve always wanted to visit Machu Picchu – one of the ancient wonders of the world in Peru. I also wanted to have a photo taken with the alpacas overlooking the great Inca ruins. I guess I’ll have to wait and take a virtual trip. (I know many recommended Google, but here’s something better and it’s free too.)
Embark On A Virtual Tour Around Machu Picchu
Turn up your volume and listen to the guide as you explore the virtual tour powered by You Visit. You can even put on your mobile VR gear to experience it. Now you don’t have to be one of the 500 trekkers allowed on-site per day to check out Machu Picchu’s highest point.
But of course, there’s nothing like visiting Machu Picchu in person, whether you choose to take the train or journey on foot via the Inca Trail, there’s always this sense of awe and exhilaration in arriving someplace new. In the meantime, this is one of the many ways to keep your travel spirit alive.
