Takashimaya’s CNY 2026 Fair Has Horse-Shaped Cakes, Yuzu Pineapple Tarts & Over 70 Brands To Check Out
The annual Takashimaya Lunar New Year fair is back, and this time it’s all about the Year of the Horse. From 15 January to 15 February 2026, over 70 brands will set up shop at Basement 2, bringing everything from artistic cakes to modern twists on classic pineapple tarts. Whether you’re on the hunt for unique gifts or simply want to stock up on festive snacks, here’s what to look out for.
Hand-carved horse cake that takes 2 days to make

Making its debut at this year’s fair, Goodwood Park Hotel arrives with a lineup that blurs the line between confectionery and art. The headline item is The Charming Stallion, a butter cake hand-sculpted into the likeness of a majestic horse. Each piece takes Pastry Chef Joe Tan two full days to carve, meaning no two cakes are exactly alike. It’s a truly limited-edition centrepiece for the festive table.
Equally impressive is the Golden Fortune Garlic, a marble cake shaped like a garlic bulb (a symbol of prosperity and protection) and finished entirely in brilliant gold with whimsical chocolate coins dangling from its leaves.
For durian lovers, the ‘Mao Shan Wang’ Osmanthus Blossom Dome layers longan pound cake with durian mousse and osmanthus-infused cream.
Pineapple tarts with yuzu, cheese, and pink guava
You can’t have CNY without pineapple tarts, but this year’s lineup goes way beyond the traditional recipe.

Mahota’s Yuzu Pineapple Tarts use fresh yuzu puree, juice, and peel in the filling, giving the classic treat a citrusy upgrade. The bakery also has a new Lucky Cat Nian Gao made with QQ mochi and yuzu-infused lotus paste. Both items are lower in sugar and preservative-free.

Home’s Favourite takes a savoury route with their Cheezu Concealed Pineapple Tarts. The pastry is infused with cheese, while the pineapple filling gets a hint of yuzu. It’s an unexpected combination that actually works.

My Mum’s Cookies has a vegan and gluten-free Pink Guava Pineapple Ball for those with dietary restrictions. Fresh pink guava juice is blended into the pineapple jam and wrapped in buttery pastry.

Also new this year is Lizoo, bringing organic Freshly Roasted Black Gold Chestnuts with zero added sugar, salt, or additives. Fun fact: the Chinese word for chestnut (栗) sounds like prosperity (利), so you’re basically gifting good fortune in snack form.
Heritage snacks for the nostalgic

Soicoco’s Kueh Bangkit is made using a recipe passed down through four generations. Each batch uses freshly pressed coconut milk and contains no preservatives or additives. The texture is delicate and melt-in-your-mouth, with a deep coconut fragrance.
Their Prawn Rolls are coated in house-made Belado chilli paste, which gives them a spicy kick that’s hard to stop eating.
Gift sets that double as keepsakes
If you’re shopping for corporate gifts or something impressive for the in-laws, these sets come in packaging you’ll want to keep.

Mdm Ling Bakery’s Steps to Prosperity includes 12 of their best-selling cookies in primrose pink wooden trays that can be stacked and reused as storage organisers. Their Blossom Drawer Chest looks like a jewellery box but comes filled with cookies instead.

Pryce Tea’s Majestic Horse Gift Set features a champagne-rose box with leaping horses on the design. Inside, you’ll find Taiwan teas from the Tai-Cha collection, a TōTetsubin teaware set, and a Pineapple Cup filled with freshly baked pineapple tarts.

Hong Kong MX has a Year of the Horse Gift Box where the packaging reveals a moving golden horse when you slide it open. The petite egg rolls inside are solid – just five ingredients, no nonsense.
