Experience Play:Date at the National Museum of Singapore Till 5 Jan 2025

Step into a vibrant world of nostalgia and imagination at the National Museum of Singapore’s latest exhibition, Play:Date – Unlocking Cabinets of Play. Running from 5 July 2024 to 5 January 2025, this engaging showcase invites visitors of all ages to rediscover the joy of toys and play through an innovative and immersive experience.


Toy Collections

Explore a captivating array of over 250 toys from various eras, each with its own story. The collection is divided into three main sections:

It’s a Small World

Relive memories with miniature toys from local McDonald’s promotions, Barbie dolls and unique collectibles from ActionCity.

Drive-Through Time

Discover iconic vehicular brands like Hot Wheels and Matchbox, including rare models and special editions.

Batteries Included

Dive into the digital age with retro game consoles, Tamagotchis and other nostalgic digital toys.


Interactive Experiences

Enhance your visit with interactive digital experiences. Purchase a Starter Pack to create your own digital toy avatar, the Play:Mate and engage in exciting games like Memory Match and Roadblock Highway. Additional Booster Packs are available for further gaming fun.

Art Installations

Admire large-scale artworks by local artists decorating the museum’s facade and entrance tunnel, setting the stage for your playful journey.

Museum Martket

Visit the Museum Martket by ABRY x Khiam Teck to purchase traditional toys and games and relive fond memories of a beloved local shop.

Share Your Toy Stories

The National Museum of Singapore invites visitors to share their own toy stories and donate toys from the 1980s to the present as part of their Open Call for Collecting Contemporary Singapore.

Nearest MRT station: Dhoby Ghaut station. Follow the signs to the National Museum or use the underground linkway for direct access.
