There are a ton of comfort foods out there, but nothing quite beats the satisfaction of biting into an excellent burger. You can feel sad before eating a burger, and you can feel guilty after eating a burger, but in that moment of eating that burger, there’s no happier feeling in the world.
From gourmet burgers that hail from the United States to fusion flavours, and even a 1 Michelin Star restaurant, here are 7 of the best burger joints in Singapore.

With its origins in the Big Apple, Burger Joint New York is classically American, in all the good ways. Hidden at the back of Gemmill Lane, the shop is even designed to look like their outlets in America, so it’s an authentic experience right down to the décor. But let’s face it, we don’t go to burger joints and critic how the décor looks, there’s only one thing that matters: do the burgers stack up?
The burgers stick to the classic flavours, nothing too crazy. Choose from a menu of Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Bacon Burger, with sides that includes fries, milkshakes, and brownies. The beef is flown in from Nebraska and the cheese is said to be sourced from some of the best dairy farms in the US. To get the full experience, remember to get “the works” which include toppings such as pickles, onions, and mustard.
Get comfortable in a hidden American diner and dig into five-ounce beef patties (I’m just assuming you’ll get the double) with melted cheddar cheese sandwiched between two toasty buns.

Hailing all the way from the West Coast of Los Angeles, 25 Degrees occupies the first floor of Hotel G. Named after the temperature difference between a raw and well-done burger, 25 Degrees has slowly cultivated their own loyal following.
Their burgers are all named numerically from Number One to Number Four, with the first three featuring USA Angus beef patties while the fourth consists of a seared yellowfin tuna topped with lettuce, fried onions, and spicy aioli. The difference between the beef burgers are the fillings and cheese which range from creamy Crescenza cheese to burrata or Mezzo Secco Dry Monterey Jack Cheese.
It can be a task and a half just to understand the difference of the cheeses, and if you want to be safe, go for Number One which is the closest you’ll get to the classic burger and who can really say no to caramelised onions and bacon?

For A Little Twist

Hand-crafted burgers truly aren’t easy to find in Singapore, but Burgerlabo looks to break the trend. Voted as the best burger in Singapore by Straits Times Food after a blind taste test, Burgerlabo has slowly cemented itself in the local burger scene since their journey started back in 2015.
Nothing really beats a good burger when you get a moist and juicy beef patty right in the middle, and Burgerlabo’s beef patty features a blend of grass-fed Angus neck, Aomori Gyu ribeye, Toriyama Umami Wagyu A4 tenderloin, and Sendai Wagyu A5 brisket. It sounds heavenly already, but let me bring your attention to their Chicken Burger.
French chicken leg marinated in yoghurt and spices, char-grilled to give it a nice smokiness, topped with a sunny side-up, house-made yoghurt sauce, and salsa, gosh their Chicken Burger may very well be the star.

Located in the historic and iconic Tong Ah Kopitiam building along Keong Saik Road, Three Buns under the Indonesian Potato Head Group has been a hit since opening back in 2014.
Taking a creative approach to their burgers, most of the flavours you’ll find have heavy Asian influences. Have no fear, they don’t go too wild with their tinkering. The burgers still feature beef patties (though there are chicken and even crab varieties as well), your necessary greens, house cheddar from the UK, and brioche buns.
The little twists appear rather ingeniously in their sauces where you can find creations like salted egg mayonnaise to pesto, and even cumin aioli. If you don’t want to get too funky, the Baby Huey or the Smokin’ B-boy is the way to go, and given a choice, we’d suggest the latter.

For Those Who Love A Local Touch

Their iconic neon sign has been a staple on Instagram for quite a while now, but it takes more than just a photo worthy spot to get returning customers. Luckily, Loof serves up some of the best burgers on the roofs.
Featuring four fusion burgers on their menu, it is here where you’ll get to taste interesting creations with local infusions that you can hardly find elsewhere. The Pork Chopper features a Hainanese-style cream cracker crust pork chop with salted vegetable slaw, and while not exactly a burger, the B.C.M. Grilled Cheese will appeal to all Bak Chor Mee lovers.
We hear the Loof Original Ramly is a crowd-favourite, an upgraded version reminiscent of the Malaysian street snack that has enraptured so many.

For the Award-Winning Joint

Taking the 10th spot on the 2019 Asia’s Best Restaurant List is no mean feat, and that’s not all the accolades that Burnt Ends has received. A one Michelin star restaurant, Burnt Ends is not a burger joint like the rest on this list, but if it opens one, we’re ready to bet that it’ll be packed to the brim.
It’s inclusion on this list says more about how impressive their signature burger, the Sanger, is. Not only that, it’s a pulled pork burger and not of the beef variety like the others. You’ll need to stop your mouth watering when you see the generous amount of tender pulled pork shoulder topped with chipotle aioli, coleslaw, melted cheese and sandwiched between two fluffy brioche buns.
Oh, I need a burger now.

For Some Good Ol’ Fast Food

After much consideration, it was tough to leave Shake Shack Singapore off this list, primarily because here in Singapore, burgers are generally (although not in all cases) equated to fast food and Shake Shack has got to be at the top of fast food burgers at the moment in Singapore (we’ll see how The Five Guys do when they reach our shores).
The ShackBurger is the one to go for here, featuring their freshly ground 100% Angus Beef topped with American cheese, tucked nicely in their potato buns which are soft and pillowy. The beef patties are juicy and moist, boasting an overall nice texture. Definitely get the double patties and thank us later.
