The Beauty of Traditional Chinese Clothing – Guo Ping Qi Pao
Qi Pao, or Cheongsam in Cantonese, is a form of traditional Chinese clothing that has been around since Manchu rule in China. The original style was developed by a group of tailors who were commissioned by Empress Dowager Cixi to create a style that incorporated elements of both Manchu and Han garments. The resulting design featured an elegant silhouette with high necklines and long sleeves that were often decorated with intricate embroidery or beadwork.
