Where is Coney Island?
Coney Island is a small island off the northeastern coast of Singapore. Also known as Serangoon Island or Pulau Serangoon, the island is accessible from Punggol Point Park or Punggol Settlement.
It is open from 7am to 7pm daily.
How do I get to Coney Island?
There are two entrances to Coney Island, the West, and East entrances. The easiest way to get to the island is by Punggol Point Park, which is connected to Coney Island by a bridge. The bridge is approximately 500m so you can definitely walk to cycle across easily.
The East Entrance connects to Lorong Haus or Pasir Ris Industrial Drive. However, there is a small section of the East Promenade that is closed for construction work until June 2024. You can still access the island by alternative paths from the East Entrance.
However, apart from the two entrances, you can also kayak to the island directly. This is a fun experience for anyone looking for an outdoor weekend activity. Kayaking also unlocks the beaches of Coney Island, which is inaccessible to other visitors with the normal trails.
Where do I Rent a Kayak?
The majority of us don’t have a kayak lying around at our house but fret not! You can easily rent a kayak in Singapore.
You can start your kayak journey at Pasir Ris Park. There are two places to rent your kayaks from – PAssion Waves. Sit-On-Top Kayaks are available for rental for those without a STAR certificate.
You can choose to rent by the hour or the whole day. If you’re a PAssion Card holder, you can enjoy cheaper rates. We would recommend renting the kayaks for the whole day so you can spend more time at Coney Island.
How do I kayak to Coney Island?
Once you rent your kayaks, start your journey to Coney Island by paddling along the coasts of Paris Ris Beach. Once you see the Serangoon Dam, you’re near. A while more and you will be reaching Coney Island. You can stop at the beaches and enjoy the tranquil nature.
The journey from Pasir Ris park to Coney Island is around 3 hours, which can be rather tedious. It is advisable to take some breaks in between. You can do so by paddling back to the coast for a while or just stop paddling and enjoy the waves.
