Experience the groundbreaking performance of KAGAMI at the Esplanade theatres, a mixed reality concert honouring the late Ryuichi Sakamoto. Created in collaboration with Tin Drum, this unique production merges a dimensionally captured performance with the real world, delivering an unparalleled musical experience.
KAGAMI meaning “mirror” in Japanese, presents Sakamoto’s piano compositions through cutting-edge mixed reality technology. Featuring beloved pieces like “Energy Flow” and “Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence” as well as rare works such as the unreleased “BB”, this performance blends Sakamoto’s artistry with innovative visuals and sound design.
Audiences will wear mixed reality headsets that allow them to see an augmented Sakamoto at the piano, enhanced by dynamic art, lighting and scent. Attendees can engage with the performance from various perspectives, be it moving around, observing up close or enjoying from a distance.
