SCOTLAND, Isle of Skye – Near the town of Carbost in the Isle of Skye, Scotland, is a place that looked like it was fished out from the vivid imagination of J.R.R. Tolkein. Known as the Fairy Pools, this body of water is located at the foot of the Cuillin Mountains.

On a bright sunny day, the cerulean waters are so calm and clear that you’ll be able to see the individual rocks that form the bed of the pond. On a cold rainy day, the waters are torrential, cascading down various rock formations. If you’re thinking of taking a dip in the Fairy Pools, fair warning, the waters can be bone-chilling cold, so we’d don’t recommend it.

The Fairy Pools are magical and fantastical, worth a trip when you’re gallivanting in the Isle of Skye.
