Over 80 Experiences Await as Singapore Night Festival Returns from 22 August to 6 September for ‘Island Nights’ Edition

Singapore’s largest nocturnal experience returns for its 16th edition with over 80 immersive experiences celebrating the nation’s island heritage. Running from 22 August to 6 September across the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct, this year’s “Island Nights” theme marks both Singapore’s 60th anniversary and the first edition curated by HeritageSG.

Here’s what you can look forward to at the Singapore Night Festival 2025:

Two extraordinary installations promise to captivate festival-goers this year. At Cathay Green, Australian studio ENESS presents “Sky Castle”—a breathtaking array of larger-than-life inflatable arches that respond dynamically to crowd movement with cascading colours and sound, symbolising hope and renewal after hardship.

Across the precinct, artist duo Yok & Sheryo offer a contrasting experience with “Kampong Chill” at Capitol Singapore. This charming pavilion creates a tranquil oasis optimised for relaxation, inviting visitors to unwind with workshops that capture the essence of island life in Singapore.

The festival’s hallmark projection mapping installations return with inspiring interpretations of the “Island Nights” theme. The iconic National Museum of Singapore will be transformed by “MOSAIC”, a breathtaking creation by French projection mapping pioneer Jérémie Bellot. This celestial voyage through constellations and historical cartographies reflects on navigation and island exploration whilst commemorating 60 years of Singapore-France diplomatic ties through artful integration of kebaya and batik motifs.

CHIJMES will showcase works by four local female artists—Adeline Kueh, HAFI, KangLi, and Tororo.aoi—representing the culmination of the festival’s Projection Mapping Masterclass, a capability-building programme that trains local visual artists in this cutting-edge art form.

Immersive Experiences Across Three Weekends

Festival-goers can explore Night Lights installations at six locations including Armenian Street, Bugis+, Funan, the National Design Centre, Plaza Singapura, and Raffles City Singapore. The programme includes roving performances, live stages featuring LED light performances by Starlight Alchemy, community singalongs of Xinyao and folk music, and revolutionary Hokkien puppet theatre by Penang-based Ombak Potehi.

There are also three distinct festival villages: SMU Arts Fest: 2560 at SMU Campus Green, Paradise Island at Armenian Street, and the new Retro District at Bugis Street Art Lane, each offering unique experiences that celebrate the connections binding island communities.

“For this edition, we delve deep into Singapore’s identity as an island nation and explore our heritage of deep connections and cultural exchanges that continue to influence our way of life today,” said Qazim Karim, Festival Director of SNF 2025.

Operating Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:30pm to midnight, and Sunday through Thursday until 11pm, the festival offers free admission with select ticketed programmes available.
