Are you looking for new ideas for your March school holiday plans?
Scoot has just announced 2 new destinations in it’s network to Koh Samui, Thailand, and Sibu, Malaysia.
This comes after recent news regarding the updated delivery schedule of Scoot’s new fleet of Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. Slated to join the budget carrier arm of Singapore Airlines Group, Scoot in March, the first aircraft had been delayed by a month to gradually join the fleet starting from April. The rest will take wing every few months until all 9 E190-E2’s will be delivered by 2025.
In addition to these two new destinations, Scoot will also be adding new services to existing route networks across South East Asia to these destinations onboard the brand new E190-E2 aircraft: Krabi, Hat Yai, Kuantan, Miri.
The first inaugural flight of the E190-E2 will be to Krabi Thailand on 7th May 2024. E190-E2 flights to Hat Yai will also begin on 7th May 2024.
Scoot has commented that its new strategy with it’s sub-fleet of Embraer E190-E2 aircraft is to offer direct connections in new cities that continue to push boundaries and strengthen their group’s presence and connectivity within the region.
Koh Samui, Thailand
Koh Samui, Thailand, although a brand new destination for Scoot, is not a new destination to the Singapore Airlines Group, having served the holiday destination for many years previously with Silk Air. Physical constraints of the airport runway limits a majority of the aircraft that can be flown into Samui International Airport, with former Silk Air using a single aisle A319-100.
With Scoot’s brand new sub-fleet of regional Embraer jets, these jets can now fly to the island and allow the Singapore Airlines Group to once again restore service to the popular tourist island in Thailand.
Koh Samui is a popular tourist resort island in the Gulf of Thailand with many luxury hotels and resorts all over the island. A year round attraction, this island offers beautiful cliff views and private beaches secluded by the natural formation of the island’s coastline. Koh Samui is also very well known among expatriates for its bustling night life and bar scene.
Many will also agree that flying into and out of Koh Samui International Airport is unlike any other airport experience. With it’s boutique resort style aesthetics from an outdoor shopping promenade as the ‘Duty Free Shopping’, to having an outdoor departure hall with buggies to take passengers to their aircraft, it offers a relaxed and holiday-like experience even on your way home.
Sibu, Malaysia
This newest destination is one that is completely new to the Singapore Airlines Group and to Scoot. Sibu is a city of the Eastern Malaysian state of Sarawak.
Sibu has some of the best local Malaysian food in the state of Sarawak and is also a great stopover city for those intending to explore Borneo. The city is also rich in cultural heritage with many tour, trails, temples and museums to visit. Iconic to the city for tourists is the Iban longhouses. This experience is offered both as a day trip and an overnight stay for tourists to experience the tribal life of an Iban villager, native to the lands.

What to Expect of the E190-E2?

Following Scoot’s marketing strategy of naming every single aircraft a special fitting name, the very first Embraer E190-E2 aircraft will aptly be called Explorer 3.0, suggesting that it is the third generation of a new fleet in the airline’s history and that the mission of the aircraft type is to open up and ‘explore’ more routing options for the airline, if you will.
Passengers will enjoy a 2-2 all economy class configuration seating a total of 112 passengers, widely deemed as the most comfortable option in the skies flying. For flights of up to a maximum 4 hours +, a 2-2 configuration makes seating very comfortable. However the same can’t be same about the entertainment with no inflight entertainment installed, not a surprise for the airline.
Will you be making new plans to any of these destinations on Scoot’s network this coming holiday?
