Two of Singapore’s oldest food brands have teamed up — and yes, there’s bakkwa toast
Chin Mee Chin Confectionery is kicking off its 101st year with a Lunar New Year tie-up alongside fellow heritage brand Bee Cheng Hiang, and the result is exactly the kind of old-school-meets-old-school mashup we didn’t know we needed. Available from now till 3 March (while stocks last), the limited-time lineup works Bee Cheng Hiang’s handcrafted bakkwa and pork floss into Chin Mee Chin’s classic bakes.

Exclusive dine-in highlights include the Bakkwa & Pork Floss Toast ($5) served on a soft bun, a decadent Shokupan French Toast with bakkwa and pork floss ($10), and the classic Pork Floss Bun ($2.80).
Looking for a gift or a treat for yourself? There’s a Pork Floss Swiss Roll ($16 whole, $2.80 per slice) topped with buttercream and a generous heap of floss, a crispy Kaya Twist ($2 each, $12.80 for a tin of seven), fragrant Honey Madeleine with Kaya ($2.80 for two; $12 for a box of eight), and airy Pandan and Yuzu Chiffon Cakes ($2.80 per slice, $12 whole).
We tried the Pork Floss Swiss Roll and can confirm: it’s savoury, fluffy and dangerously moreish. One slice is definitely not enough, so do yourself a favour and just get the whole roll.
Look, Chin Mee Chin hardly needs an introduction. The Katong institution has been serving kaya toast and kopi to generations of Singaporeans since 1925, and Bee Cheng Hiang has been the go-to for festive bakkwa since 1933. Putting the two together just makes sense and the results taste every bit as good as the nostalgia suggests.
Chin Mee Chin Confectionery is located at 204 East Coast Road, Singapore 428903. Open daily from 8am to 4pm (last order 3.30pm), walk-ins only.
All prices listed are in Singapore Dollars.
