iRecommend Diary Ep 10: WiFi On-the-Go, Flavours That Flow: Geraldine’s Foodie Trail Through Seoul & Osaka with ChangiWiFi

For Geraldine, an iRecommend member, and her partner, travel is all about indulging in great food, stylish finds, and smart planning. As passionate foodies and shopaholics, they spent 4 days in Seoul and 6 days in Japan—thanks to a savvy travel tip: flying with Singapore Airlines and transiting in Seoul was not only more cost-effective but also the perfect way to explore two destinations in one trip. It was their first time doing it, no regrets! Though Seoul greeted them with rainy skies, the weather only made the comfort food more satisfying. In contrast, Japan’s mix of chilly breezes and bursts of warmth added a cozy vibe to their adventures. Throughout it all, their ChangiWiFi – portable WiFi for travel, kept them seamlessly connected—from navigating Myeongdong’s hidden food gems to livestreaming Osaka’s skyline. Read on to see how strong WiFi turned this duo’s trip into a perfectly mapped-out foodie escape.

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA

Delicious Eats

Myeongdong Jungang Hoegwan

Rainy weather calls for serious comfort food, and Geraldine found the ultimate bowl of healing goodness at Myeongdong Jungang Hoegwan. Think tender ginseng chicken soup (Samgyetang), crispy fried pork, and spicy squid that packs a punch. Tucked away in a quiet corner of Myeongdong, this hidden gem was a lifesaver—and yes, she credits the ChangiWiFi router for helping them track it down in the drizzle.

Breadypost

Pretzel lovers, take note! Geraldine stumbled upon this cozy café while on a spontaneous coffee hunt—and it was love at first bite. Their pretzel-like bread is salty, soft, and baked to chewy perfection. The artisanal coffee? Aromatic and smooth. The whole place had that “chill with a friend or solo vibe” that makes you want to linger. Bonus: the bread designs are Instagram-worthy and totally unique.

“I’m glad we stumbled upon this gem when we we’re exploring around with our trusty portable WiFi. It gave us the courage to go off the beaten path. Worth the detour!” shared Geraldine.

Myeongdong Kyoja Branch

One word: noodles. Geraldine couldn’t stop raving about this place. From fiery cold noodles with a tangy kick to rich, soul-soothing hot noodle soup and juicy dumplings—every bite hit the spot. She called it “noodle paradise” and said they literally followed the portable WiFi signal to get there. (Pro tip: when in doubt, trust the ChangiWiFi router.)

Her favourite was the spicy cold noodles. “Straight-up flavour fireworks!”

Afternoon Tea Love & Table

A casual stroll through Umeda led Geraldine to this dreamy high-tea spot. She went in for the sakura tea and left obsessed with the seasonal strawberry crepes (she had two!). The pasta was a surprise hit too. Cute, cozy, and perfectly Instagrammable, this café was an afternoon delight made even better by easy portable WiFi-powered navigation.

Restaurant & Café Tsuchi

After a visit to a nearby shrine, Geraldine and her partner popped into this warm little farm-to-table concept café for a much-needed latte break. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of espresso kick—it was the perfect pause in their busy exploring.

P.S: They have a special menu for strawberry deserts using fresh strawberries from their farm!

Kani Doraku Dotonbori Main Branch

Snow Crab cravings? Satisfied. Geraldine kicked off one of her Osaka days with a snow crab feast that she said was “sweet, juicy, and totally unforgettable.” A definite must-try if you’re in the mood for seafood indulgence. It is a popular landmark at Dotonburi – the Giant Crab!

Ralph Lauren Café

Luxury meets latte at this sleek café stop. Geraldine not only sipped a delicious cup of coffee but also scored a Japan-exclusive tumbler and some freshly ground beans in a designer canister. Yes, even coffee breaks can be stylish.

PLACES TO GO IN OSAKA

Namba Yasaka Jinja

Geraldine called this shrine “iconic” and “a total vibe.” It looks like a lion’s head that’s ready to chomp down on bad luck, and she loved how tucked-away and mysterious it felt. Good thing their ChangiWiFi, the best WiFi router for travel, helped them navigate the hidden alleys to get there!

They were lucky to catch some late-blooming sakura dancing in the breeze, giving a dreamy, “Japan-in-spring” sight.

Dotonburi & Shinsaibashi

No Osaka trip is complete without a selfie with the Glico Man. Geraldine even checked the live cam and screenshot herself on it! From shopping sprees in Shinsaibashi to grabbing exclusive finds at BAPE@OSAKA and Casetify, the shopping scene was endless—and easy to explore with reliable portable WiFi in hand. Snap a pic with the iconic Glico Man—because did you really go to Dotonbori if you didn’t? Check out the YouTube live cam of Osaka and screenshot yourself in the action as well.

Umeda Sky Building

High above Osaka, Geraldine was surprised to still have perfect internet connection at the Floating Garden Observatory. She livestreamed the panoramic views (yes, even from 173 meters up!) and declared the whole experience “breathtaking and totally worth it.” Downstairs, the retro food floor and relaxing garden sealed the deal.

Highly recommend adding it to your Osaka itinerary — and yes, your portable WiFi will keep up if its ChangiWiFi, even in the clouds. It’s just a place for people with all kinds – an architecture enthusiast, a cityscape photographer, or just want a romantic sunset spot, this place delivers.

Hello, bargain heaven! Geraldine and her partner went wild with outlet finds—from luxury labels to sports brands, all at great prices. They even discovered a seaside café with a camping-chic vibe. Bonus points for the travel WiFi that helped them explore every hidden zone of the massive outlet mall.

Oh, and pro tip: the metro stations here have cozy hideouts to escape that icy wind. Lifesaver!

From slurping comforting noodles in rainy Seoul to uncovering strawberry crepes and shopping steals in Osaka, Geraldine’s 10-day journey was the perfect mix of food, fun, and clever travel planning. By choosing a cost-saving route via Singapore Airlines with a Seoul stopover, she got to explore two amazing cities without stretching her budget.
