Marina Bay is about to get lit—literally. Singapore’s biggest light art festival is back and brighter than ever to celebrate the nation’s 60th birthday. Running from May 29 to June 21, i Light Singapore 2025 will illuminate the city with 17 dazzling installations by 20 artists spread across Marina Bay and beyond.
This year’s theme? “To Gather”—both a call for collective action and a play on words that perfectly captures the festival’s vibe. Inspired by the colour red (a wavelength on the visible light spectrum), the festival is expanding beyond its usual boundaries to new spots along the Singapore River and Raffles Place as part of Singapore’s milestone 60th birthday celebrations.
Here are some of the installations you simply can’t miss!
1. Take a walk through the meadow with me

Where: Lawn beside NTUC Building
This gorgeous garden of 300 illuminated flowers responds to your movements with synchronised light and music. The sensory experience intensifies as more people gather, creating a conversation between human presence and artistic expression. Made from repurposed acrylic waste, it’s sustainability with serious style. Bonus: You can also join a workshop to create your own meadow memory charm as a keepsake (S$3, May 31 and June 7).
2. Piano Walk

Where: Marina Bay Sands Event Plaza
Step onto this oversized piano and become part of a human orchestra. Your footsteps trigger notes that blend with others to create unique melodies, with an original composition automatically playing every ten minutes. Perfect for that Instagram moment with your mates.
3. Reverse Waterfall

Where: UOB Plaza Façade
Water flowing upward? This mind-bending installation uses thousands of LED meteor tubes to create a waterfall that defies gravity. It’s the perfect metaphor for everything we take for granted as “natural” and it’s staying up until July 20, giving you extra time to contemplate the universe.
4. Urban Oracle

Where: Pontoon near Red Dot Design Museum
Think modern-day fortune teller but make it art. Press one of three buttons along the boardwalk and watch as 24 illuminated letters pulse with light, reflecting AI-generated messages about Singapore’s past, present and future onto the water’s surface. Spooky? A bit. Cool? Absolutely.
5. The Guardians

Where: Raffles Place Park
An inflatable garden showcasing vibrant tropical flora designs creates a psychedelic chill-out space in the heart of the CBD. These inflatables are made in a studio powered entirely by solar energy.
Where to eat, drink and be merry

After all that light-gazing, you’ll need sustenance. Head to GastroBeats, the festival’s food village at Bayfront Event Space (May 29-June 22). This culinary playground features food stalls ranging from street food to gourmet bites, plus retail zones selling unique local products.
The village pumps up the volume with daily live music performances featuring emerging stars mentored by local band 53A. And yes, it’s pet-friendly, so your fur babies can join the fun!
This year’s special activation “Let’s Trouble The Water!” brings quirky Jelilo characters like Captain Skull and Scarface to rally festival-goers against marine pollution. Think of it as partying with purpose.
When to go
i Light Singapore 2025 will shine nightly from 7:30pm to 11:00pm, with extended hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. While admission to the festival is free, charges apply for certain programmes like GastroBeats and the DIY workshops.
In the glow of i Light Singapore 2025, visitors find not just artistic displays, but a luminous invitation to gather, connect, and collectively imagine new possibilities—a fitting celebration for a nation turning 60 and looking confidently toward tomorrow’s light.
