New Zealand has just announced that it will be increasing its tourism levy this October 1st from NZ$35 to NZ$100.
This means visitors to the country will need to pay a higher fee upon arrival. The exact reasons for this increase haven’t been explicitly stated, but it’s likely to contribute to funding tourism infrastructure or initiatives. Either way, it’s definitely going to impact travellers’ budgets.
The International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) was first introduced in 2019.
