Have you ever been to Jiufen? Tourists visiting Taipei will usually take a day trip to experience the charm of the hillside town, which is famous for its resemblance to the village in Hayao Miyazaki’s most popular film, Spirited Away.
The enchanting allure of Jiufen shifts with the passage of time, captivating visitors both day and night. And for this very reason, I checked into Daybreak.
Nestled in the charming hillside town of Jiufen, Daybreak is the epitome of modern indulgence with breathtaking vistas that would grace any postcard. The homestay comprises two separate buildings – each with its own unique theme, guests can savour either an idyllic sea view or verdant mountain scenery.
Daybreak is Jiufen’s newest homestay, having opened in the final quarter of 2022.

As I approached Daybreak, a surreal feeling washed over me. It was as if I was stepping into the vivid strokes of a masterfully painted canvas.
This particular guestroom located on the third floor was beyond exceptional! While the property boasts every modern comfort one could wish for, what really stood out to me were the complementary teapot set, hand coffee grinder, and pour-over coffee set! The Daybreak experience is all about appreciating slow living. Brew your cup of tea with the teaware provided, or grind the beans and try your hand at pour-over coffee. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the view from your room as you take a sip.
The enchantment of Daybreak lies in its unique, one-of-a-kind room, which possesses its own distinct charm and delightful surprises. There are a total of 11 rooms sitting on the second and third floors.
To complete my homestay experience, I made a reservation for dinner too. They serve fresh local produce and seafood, sourced from the bustling Keelung Port.
