THAILAND, Bangkok – Travel a little southwest of Bangkok’s city centre and you’ll find a market that sits atop train tracks. You’ll definitely hear the roar of the train and the rumblings of the tracks before you see a train hurtling through the market.
It’s a bizarre experience to see the market stalls warp and make way for a train running through it, and then to go right back and resume business like nothing ever happened. Don’t expect your fancy hipster food or the latest hypebeast fashion wear here. Maeklong Train Market has been around since 1905 and offers traditional Thai sweets, meat, seafood, vegetables, and fruits.
The Maeklong Train Market is an excellent way to see the morning market affairs of the locals.
