We all have our vices, and no one likes going cold turkey. While we experienced a year of travel hiatus in 2020, we’re also fortunate to enjoy some of our favourite dishes from around the world in Singapore. The absence of travel does make the heart grow fonder.

This time, we journey to Vivo City for an afternoon tea and imagine we’re in neon-lit Ho Chi Minh city as we grab a seat at Mrs Pho Cafe.

When in Vietnam, you must try the Vietnamese Coffee and sink your teeth into tasty Banh mi, lo and behold, you can do so in Mrs Pho VivoCity every day from 2 pm to 6 pm. No passport required.

Experience the cafe culture of Vietnam at Mrs Pho VivoCity

Mrs Pho VivoCity launched a cafe-style menu that celebrates Vietnam’s famous coffee culture, using robusta coffee beans sourced directly from Vietnam’s verdant Gia Lai province, which are then roasted by an artisanal roaster in Ho Chi Minh. This is the place to be if you’re hankering for a cup of bold coffee and tasty Vietnamese snacks!

The menu also features over 20 cafe-worthy drinks, such as Vietnam’s famous Egg Coffee, a rich, decadent treat made with egg yolks, condensed milk and coffee. Ordering the Egg Coffee is also an experience, the staff will gently torch the egg custard right in front of your eyes, and the result looks like the Crème Brûlée. Not forgetting the deliciously creamy Avocado Coffee, and the naturally sweet Coconut Coffee. There’s also a series of refreshing iced teas for those who aren’t a coffee fan.

Calling all fellow Banh Mi lovers, you really need to try this! The baguettes are made using a custom bread dough that delivers a satisfying crunch, and they come with a range of fillings from chicken to meatballs — perfect for a teatime treat! We recommend all of the fillings, without reservation.

Mrs Pho Café has also come up with unique local renditions to pay homage to Singapore’s culture: the Vietnam Floss Banh Mi and Kaya Butter Banh Mi, offering both savoury and sweet options – something for everyone.
