Royal Host Opens Second Singapore Store at Takashimaya Shopping Centre

The search for authentic Japanese-Western fusion in Singapore is over – Royal Host is here to satisfy your cravings!

Royal Host, the celebrated Japanese-Western family restaurant chain has unveiled its second outpost at Takashimaya Shopping Centre. This is their second international outpost, following the successful launch at Jewel Changi Airport earlier this year.

Royal Host – A Household Name in Japan for Over 50 Years

Since its humble beginnings in Fukuoka in 1971, Royal Host has become a beloved culinary institution across Japan, with restaurants stretching from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

Never been to Royal Host? Prepare for a treat! This popular Japanese restaurant is famous for its warm atmosphere, deliciously familiar Western dishes with a Japanese flair, and impeccable service. It’s a true taste of omotenashi, the Japanese art of wholehearted hospitality.

The star attractions are dishes that have made Royal Host famous across Japan. Picture a perfectly crafted Hamburg Steak, its juicy meat complemented by a rich Brown Butter sauce, or the beloved Omurice—a fluffy omelet draped over seasoned rice that’s as much a work of art as it is a meal. All key ingredients and sauces are specially imported to maintain authenticity.

Clockwise: “ROYAL” Hamburg Steak (Brown Butter Sauce), “ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup, Lobster Bisque, Seafood & Mentaiko Sauce Pasta

If there’s one thing we insist that you must order, it’s without a doubt their “Royal” Hamburg Steak. Choose from three tempting sauces: Black Pepper (exclusive to Singapore!), classic Brown Butter, or the unique WA-FU Japanese.

For starters, we were delighted by the “ROYAL” Onion Gratin Soup. This dish features a slice of toasted baguette smothered in melted Gruyere Cheese, atop a bed of clear stock. The broth is brimming with perfectly caramelised onions, making each spoonful both comforting and delicious. Fun fact: Marilyn Monroe famously enjoyed this appetizer for three consecutive days during her honeymoon in Japan back in 1954.

If Mentaiko is your weakness, don’t miss their Pasta with Seafood & Mentaiko Sauce. The perfectly al dente pasta, coated in a generous amount of mentaiko is both satisfying and flavourful.

Next, when it comes to Omurice, we do have a certain level of expectation and we are happy to report that Royal Host has whipped it perfectly! This dish is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, especially for families with kids. The “ROYAL” Omurice showed up in fluffy scrambled eggs wrapped around a bed of flavourful Japanese ketchup rice, all topped with your choice of sauce: classic Demiglace, creamy White Cream, or the Singapore-exclusive Snow Crab Chilli Sauce, adding a unique zing you won’t find anywhere else.

To end your meal on a delightful note, treat yourself to the Creme Brulee Parfait – a dessert that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.

But Royal Host isn’t just about replicating a Japanese menu. Their  Singapore outpost features a thoughtfully curated selection that respects local tastes. Expect a variety of grilled chicken and pork dishes, and pasta and beverage options that reflect Singapore’s diverse culinary landscape—all while maintaining the essence of Royal Host’s beloved recipes. So you can find items like the Singapore Sling, Vanda Miss Joaquim Tea, Ketupat Tea just to name a few. Feeling hungry? Check out the full menu here
