The eight dishes span the full range of 90s zi char greatest hits, from crispy indulgences to wok-hei-laden classics.
One standout is the Crispy Dough Fritter Stuffed with Seafood Paste tossed with Mayonnaise. Golden youtiao fritters packed with savoury seafood paste, coated in white sesame seeds and finished with house-made mayo.
Cereal prawn lovers will want to make a beeline for the Crisp-fried Prawn with Cereal, where deshelled sea prawns come coated in that irresistible buttery, crunchy cereal we all know and love. Then there’s the Crisp-fried Chicken Fillet in Mongolian Sauce. Crispy chicken tossed in a sweet, tangy and mildly spicy sauce with a touch of turmeric. The Braised Tofu and Bean Dough with Assorted Vegetable and Mushroom is a wholesome option made with delicate house-made tofu.
The Hot Plate Venison with Chef’s Special Sauce delivers tender New Zealand venison on a sizzling hot plate, a nod to the era when hot plate dishes were the centrepiece of every zi char spread. The Deep-fried Marmite Chicken, meanwhile, keeps things comfortingly familiar with caramelised chicken thigh morsels glazed in savoury marmite sauce.
Rounding out the selection are the Thai Style Sliced Fish, featuring lightly fried snakehead slices dressed in a vibrant sweet-spicy sauce and Stir-fried French Bean with Spicy Dried Shrimp.
