A Middle Eastern grill bar right on Teck Lim Road? Sign me up. I finally checked out STYXX—the wilder sibling of the beloved gastro-bar Leila—and it adds a cool, gritty edge to the district.
First Look at STYXX
The open kitchen is the beating heart of this space, you can literally smell the sizzling goodness the moment you walk through the door.

But here’s what really got me: the playlist. They had 80s pop flowing into 90s hip-hop during my visit and the combination of sizzling skewers, that smoky open kitchen, and throwback tunes creates an atmosphere that’s absolutely electric. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself vibing to Whitney Houston one minute and Biggie the next, all while tearing into freshly baked flatbread.
Even the name is a vibe. It’s a cheeky play on ‘sticks’ (hello, skewers!), with those double X’s adding an urban edge. If you want bold flavours and good vibes with your squad, this is it.

What I Tried (And What You Should Too)
Every meal starts with complimentary Saluf, which sets the tone for the Middle Eastern feast ahead.

The housemade flatbread arrives warm, blistered from the fire, with three dips: Black Tahini, spicy Matbuha tomato relish, and refreshing pickles.
For the main event, a selection of Styxx (aka skewers) arrives sizzling hot from the grill. If you’re a meat lover, the Layered Kebab is a must-try—a rich mix of minced beef and lamb fat topped with a striking pink beetroot tahini.

The Wagyu is equally impressive, arriving smoky, tender, and seared to perfection. To balance things out, the Freekeh Salad is essential, serving as a refreshing side dish to all that savoury goodness.

But don’t overlook the veggies: the Padron Peppers are blistered and bursting with smoky flavour, while the King Oyster Mushrooms are charred until they’re surprisingly meaty and golden.

For bigger appetites, the Whole Chicken is a standout. Perfect for a group of four, it’s brined for 24 hours, marinated in harissa, and smoked in applewood.
And if you’re ready to splurge? The Alaskan King Crab Leg, poached in smoked garlic butter, is sweet, smoky, and satisfying.

Save Room for Dessert
Just when you think you can’t eat another bite, along comes dessert. The Baklava & Kadaif delivers those delicate, syrupy layers we all crave, while the Basbousa Cake, a semolina cake on rosewater pudding (serves 2 to 3 pax) is the fragrant, comforting finale your meal deserves.

The atmosphere is spot-on for both casual catch-ups and celebratory dinners. The communal, sharing-style format means you get to try more dishes, and the open kitchen adds theatre to the experience. Service was warm and unpretentious, exactly the vibe you want when you’re elbow-deep in skewers and flatbread.
